I’m excited to link-up with DC area bloggers Courtney at Eat Pray Run DC, Cynthia at You Signed Up for What?!, and Mar at Mar on the Run again today! This week’s theme is race day.
Since I only have two 5K races under my belt, I thought I would take a spin-off the race day theme and highlight 5 race days I’m dying to be at soon.
-
MCM 2014 Navy Air Force Half Marathon: I am officially registered for this one in September, and it will be my very first half marathon. I had to bow out of the 5-miler last year due to a beginner injury so I can’t wait to return to finish the longer race this time. The added bonus is it’s in my city: DC!
- Marine Corps Marathon 10K: A full marathon isn’t the cards for me this year, but the MCM10K is a great opportunity to join the marathon race weekend with a distance with which I’m more comfortable. I biked to the race start to spectate last year and almost fell off my bike in front of an audience of very amused Marines. I also had the chance to see Marines parachute out of the sky, which is just as cool as it sounds.

Savannah, GA Savannah Rock ‘n Roll Half Marathon: Savannah is a city I grew up visiting all through my childhood, and I returned last year on a road-trip stop to Key West, and it hasn’t lost a bit of its Southern charm. Alex and I were looking for a race to travel to this fall, and it’s location and timing (two months after my first half marathon) made it a perfect choice. I think it will most likely be Alex’s first full marathon too!
- Glass City Marathon: This is my hometown marathon in Toledo, Ohio! It’s famously flat and the course swings right by my parent’s home around mile 7. I have full plans on racing it in April 2016 as my first full marathon.

Hugging Emily at NYCM 2014 New York City Marathon: I cheered on one of my very best friends Emily at the NYC last fall (how incredible is she?), and I’d love to race it one day too! I love the city, but I’ve never seen all five boroughs on foot…in one day…running.
Have you raced any of these? Any other suggestions?
So excited you are registered for the Navy/AF Half! I’m an Ambassador and absolutely LOVE this race!! Love that you are doing the MCM 10K, a great way to feel the amazing energy of the race without all of the pain 🙂 Glad to have found you Victoria! You are a new blog to me and I’m in the DC area too! Have a great weekend!

My sister has done the MCM marathon and although I have no desire to run the full I think I would do the 10K! I have RNR Savannah on my list of races and plan to do it with one of my friends who lives in SC. I hope the timing works out so we can make it happen! -M

That would be great – I really think RNR Savannah would be a great race in such a beautiful city. I hope you get to race it! I’m definitely not ready for the pain of a full marathon so the MCM10K is a much better fit for me too 🙂
