I’m linking up with Running with Spoons again for Thinking Out Loud. Thanks for hosting, Amanda!
This morning I am boarding a plane for Cincinnati, Ohio for a long, happy wedding weekend, which includes an Irish Catholic ceremony, as well as a traditional Indian ceremony. It will be four days of catching up with friends from college and celebrating the happy couple! I can’t wait to share photos on Monday!
Since I am out of town all weekend, I’m not sure what my plan of attack should be for Sunday’s long run. Option A: Take it easy Saturday night and run Sunday morning before my flight back to DC. Option B: Make full efforts to enjoy Saturday night festivities and run no matter what before the flight. Option C: Run in DC around 7/8pm when I return or Option D: Push it to Monday morning. I’m going to see how the weekend plays out…
Of course, as I write this, it occurs to me that my hotel will have a gym. D’oh! I think that’s actually the simplest way to get some cross training in on Saturday morning and maybe squeeze in my run on Sunday if outside isn’t a possibility. I’ve visited Cincinnati for approximately 30 minutes, 6 years ago and know nothing about where to run downtown. Either way, I plan to do my very best to stay accountable to my plan and enjoy the weekend at the same time 🙂
What are you looking forward to this weekend? How do you juggle training and out-of-town trips? Do you have any weddings to attend this summer?
I love exploring new places on foot, but I would definitely be hesitant if I was just trying to get a long run in. Personally I’d try to run it Saturday morning so I could go all out Saturday night and ride that struggle bus Sunday without my long run looming. Have so much fun and enjoy the festivities!!!

I usually go pretty easy on myself with training when I’m travelling, but I’ve also never been seriously training for anything, so I suppose that makes a difference. Hope you have the most awesome time!

I’d get it out of the way Saturday morning. It’s hard enjoy a party Saturday night when you know you have a long run waiting for you in the am. Takes the fun out a little bit.
