I’m training to run my first half marathon this fall! I’ll be racing the Navy Air Force Half Marathon in September and recapping my training every Tuesday leading up to race day.
Okay, okay — three rest days do not look good! But it was just one of those weeks. I feel like I should do a happy dance simply because I logged all my runs one way or another. Friday’s run? 10pm at night. Womp, womp. But you know what made it all worth it? Sunday’s long run.
This week’s priorities? Strength! Foam rolling. Core. Can’t let the other things slide…Last week’s long run showed me that my hard is paying off, and I don’t want to lose momentum on that progress.
Here’s how week #7 breaks down…
- Monday (8/10): Rest
- Tuesday (8/11): Rest
- Wednesday (8/12): 4.5 Birthday miles!
- Thursday (8/13): 6.0 Biking miles + arm weights + core workout
- Friday (8/14): 4.5 Miles
- Saturday (8/16): Rest
- Sunday (8/16): 7.0 Miles
Weekly Mileage: 16 Run, 6 Bike

What was your last week of training?
Congrats on the great week – I need to make more of an effort with all the ‘other’ bits of my training like core and foam rolling. It’s just a bit boring !!

Yes! Or in my case, difficult to find time for in the morning. I think…”The run is done! I’m good!” Time to shower.

That’s exactly how i’ve gotten so shitty at all that stuff- I’ve been running to work or on my lunch hour and since time is limited I just hop in the shower and get back to my desk asap

Victoria, I’m glad that you were able to get some rest and not beat yourself up over it; I think that’s really important (and often difficult) to do. I’m with you on the strength/core work; it’s really helping me, as well, so I’ve got to stick with it – GAH! What did you think about your new Rogas?? Hope you’re having a great day and kudos to your hard work, girl!
