I took little to no photos this past weekend…except when it came to Sunday morning.
I rolled out of bed at 5:15am (already dressed in my running clothes) and sleepily tugged on my socks, shoes and hat in the dark, deeply reconsidering my decision to leave my bed.
But I did it,and I finished off my seventh week of half marathon training just as the sun was beginning to rise. By the time I reached the Capitol Building at mile 1, I was much happier than the normal person should be at 6am.
Seven miles later, I had run past the Washington Monument, the WWII Memorial, and alongside the reflecting pool to Lincoln. Even better? I chipped away at my pace each mile home for negative splits (12:11, 11:40, 11:15, 10:04).
I had completed my longest run to date and felt like I had a couple more in me. With five more weeks of training to go, I think I can call that a success.
This past weekend was filled with the good things: making the new apartment home, brunch with old friends, champagne and bbqs in the sunshine, but that long run is still making me smile.
How was your weekend?
Great job on the negative splits! Those pics are beautiful!
