This morning I’m linking up with Holly and Tricia for Weekly Wrap!
I’m officially a half marathoner, guys! I’ll be sharing the whole race recap on Thursday 🙂 Sunday’s race was just one piece of a really, really good weekend. Here were some of the best parts…
Friday
I started off my day with a little extra sleep and a walk to coffee on H ST and then Bagels & Baguettes for breakfast. We ate outside in some incredible fall weather, and I was reminded of how much I love to live in this city.
I spent the rest of the morning hanging all of our art that’s been sitting on the floor since August 1st. The gallery wall over the couch is still a work in progress, but it’ll look nicer as it continues to grow! My favorite piece is the drawing of the brain that used to belong to my grandfather, a neurologist.

The afternoon plan was to catch Everest, but the gallery wall took more time than I expected, and I ended up in a car, stuck in downtown DC traffic, trying to make it to the theater in time. Alex and I looked at each other, boycotted the idea, and drove to 2 Amys for pizza instead. I figured, where would we want to eat that isn’t easily metro accessible?! It’s kind of nice to take advantage of a car sometimes. A little lot of pizza, a German beer, and a spot outside confirmed that we’d made the right decision. Beats a stressful drive across the city any day.

After lunch, we drove straight to the Armory to pick up our bibs. We got in and out without trouble, and I may have treated myself to a three-quarter zip-up and a pint glass…
That night, Alex and I met my parents, grandmother and two of my siblings at Diakaya Izakaya for dinner. They had just finished traveling from NW Ohio and were very happy to be out of the car. Oh, it was good to have them in DC!

Saturday
My family had a very local DC experience this trip. We love the museums and the monuments, but sometimes it’s nice to skip them and try something new. We hit a couple meals at Union Market (Buffalo & Bergen, Bidwell and TaKorean), the H ST Festival, and the DC United vs. Columbus Crew game.

Sunday
Yayayaya half marathon day! I can’t wait to share more, but I need a little more time to sit down and write it out. In summary, mile six felt much harder than mile eleven, and I ran my last mile two minutes faster than the mile before it. I crossed the finish line just like I wanted – strong.
How was your weekend?!
Congrats half marathoner! Looking fwd to reading about it and chatting on Saturday!
