Two weeks from race day!!! Highs of the week: running 7.5 miles at half marathon goal pace during Thursday’s workout (a confidence booster before race day) and finishing off Sunday’s long run with my brother Benji. I cut Sunday’s 10-miler a teeny bit short because my right knee was a little cranky, and I didn’t feel another half mile was worth pushing through the discomfort. (I blame slacking on time with my foam roller and no yoga class this week).
My favorite park, Wildwood, was packed on Sunday. It was a beautiful, sunny, 70+ degree day and cars were bumper to bumper in their search for parking. Luckily we followed a rogue car into a smaller, hidden parking lot, and it saved the day. The weather also gave me a chance to test out a possible warm-day, race day outfit (stride shorts + luxie tank), weather permitting.
The lows: three afternoon runs. For a number of different reasons, I couldn’t get outside in the morning so I had to run after work. This mean cutting Tuesday’s workout short (only 5 out of the prescribed 8 intervals) and running on the treadmill Thursday night, but I got it done.

- Monday: Pure Barre
- Tuesday: 2 mile warm-up, 5 x (1000m at 10k pace, 200m at marathon pace), 1.2 mile cool-down
- Wednesday: Pure Barre
- Thursday: 7 miles on the treadmill (no sideways freezing rain for me, plz)
- Friday: 2 mile warm-up, 3 x 2.5 miles at goal pace with rest, and a mile cool-down
- Saturday: Rest day
- Sunday: 9.4 miles
- Weekly mileage = 35 miles
As I write this, I’m laughing at how there was freezing rain on Wednesday and a 70+ degree day on Sunday…
